## Setting Up Email Forwarding Rules
Outlook rules automatically manage incoming email, including forwarding messages.
### Creating a Forwarding Rule
1. **Outlook** \u2192 **File** \u2192 **Manage Rules & Alerts**
2. Click **"New Rule"**
3. Select **"Apply rule on messages I receive"**
4. Choose **conditions** (sender, subject words, etc.)
5. Select **"forward it to"** and enter recipient
6. Add **exceptions** if needed
7. Name the rule and click **Finish**
### Common Use Cases
- **Vacation forwarding:** Auto-forward urgent emails to a colleague
- **Department routing:** Forward specific requests to the right team
- **Notification cleanup:** Move automated emails to a subfolder
### Important Guidelines
- **Do not** auto-forward to external/personal addresses \u2014 security violation
- Review rules periodically and remove old ones
- Rules run server-side, working even when Outlook is closed
