## Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second verification step.
### Prerequisites
- A smartphone (iOS or Android)
- Microsoft Authenticator app (recommended) or Google Authenticator
### Setup Steps
1. Log in to the **support portal**
2. Go to **My Profile** \u2192 **Security Settings**
3. Click **"Enable MFA"**
4. Scan the **QR code** with your authenticator app
5. Enter the **6-digit code** to verify
6. **Save your recovery codes** securely
### Using MFA
After setup, you'll be prompted for a verification code each time you log in. Open your authenticator app and enter the current code.
### Lost Your Phone?
Use a recovery code to log in, then reset MFA with a new device. If you don't have recovery codes, contact IT support with ID verification.
> **Tip:** Store recovery codes in a password manager or printed securely \u2014 not on your phone!
